The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in conjunction with the International Criminal Police Organisation have arrested a Nigerian fraudster for an alleged $60m (N18.9bn) scam. According to a statement by the EFCC and INTERPOL, the suspect identified only as Mike, heads an international criminal network which is behind thousands of online scams including the hacking of emails. The 40-year-old Nigerian is believed to be behind scams totalling more than $60m involving hundreds of victims worldwide. In one case, a target was conned into paying out $15.4m. The network compromised email accounts of small and medium businesses around the world including Australia, Canada, India, Malaysia, Romania, South Africa, Thailand and the United States, with the financial victims mainly other companies dealing with these compromised accounts. Former Nigerian Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and her husband, Ikemba Iweala yesterday celebrated their 37th anniversary as a married couple. Their union has been blessed with four children so far. John Obi Mikel has been named as the new captain of the Nigeria U23 squad for the Rio Olympic Games. The midfielder will be assisted by erstwhile skipper Azubuike Okechukwu at the men’s football event in Brazil. Samson Siasia announced his chioce following a meeting with players and other officials on Saturday, said it was a natural decision, seeing his role as Team Nigeria skipper. “It’s just natural for me to pick Mikel as our captain,” Siasia announced.  Aside the fact that he is the captain of the Super Eagles, he is also Team Nigeria captain, so after meeting with both of them and explaining my position, I am pleased to say Azubuike who has been our captain understood and was happy to hand over the captain’s band to Mikel. “It is a thing of joy for my team to produce the first footballer to captain Team Nigeria to the Olympics.
