CROSS RIVER RISES AS AYADE'S CHIEF OF STAFF HONOURS FATHER

Obudu, the quiet but popular town in northern Cross River State will not forget in a hurry the recent launch of the G.O.F Foundation by the chief of Staff to the State Governor, Hon. Martin Orim. The Foundation was set up in honour of the chief of Staff's late father, elder Gabriel Orim.
Obviously, the seat of government seemed to be temporarily relocated from Calabar to Ubang - a very small village in Obudu local government area, as the event attracted the "who-is-who" in the Ayade administration led by none other than the wife of the governor and First Lady of the State, Dr. Linda Ayade, who presented empowerment items on behalf of the foundation to beneficiaries at the occasion. In addition, the state’s deputy governor, Prof Ivara Esu was amply present.
Members of the state House of Assembly led by the Honourable Speaker and members of the Executive Council came to the venue in their droves to honour this young and promising politician who has proven that he is worthy of the exalted position by ensuring the wheels of governance runs smoothly, as he has done since inception till now.
Other high ranking government functionaries that graced the event include: Directors-Generals, Special Advisers as well as Special Assistants. The event was made more colourful with the presence of Traditional Rulers in their majestic regalia led by the longest serving traditional ruler in Nigeria, Uti JD Agba, the traditional ruler of Obudu Local Government Area and Father of the day, captains of industries, top civil servants, religious leaders and leaders of the civil society were not left behind.
Speaking at the occasion, an overwhelmingly excited Chief Of Staff to Ayade, Chief Martin Orim said the launching of the foundation marks a turning point in the laudable work which Chief G. F. O. Orim started in contributing to social as well as human capital development in our community, state and nation as a whole.
He added that the objective of the foundation is strategic and the foundation hopes to create opportunity for well-meaning and philanthropic individuals as well as organizations to contribute and support the less privileged, physically challenged and even the youth to have a better life in our society. The Chief of Staff further revealed that his greatest influence to serve humanity is his late father and governor Ayade. In his words: "My principal who is the governor, is a man of service. He is a man that delights in serving people and he has been an overwhelming influence in this regards. So, you can see where my desire to serve people comes from".
The G.O.F. Orim Foundation was set up to maintain the charitable pace of his father of blessed memory, Elder Gabriel Orim. And to contribute to the good works of governor Ayade in empowering the people. The Cross River First Lady, Dr Linda Ayade who led a large delegation of women to the occasion commended Hon Orim for setting up the foundation to help the less privileged in the society and described the idea as noble. She further praised him for his desire to serve humanity by setting up the foundation, and thanked him for honouring his late father.
She said that G.F.O. was a great man and his son, Martin is only toeing the footsteps of his late father who was a man of the people and had a heart to serve humanity.
According to her, G.F.O. would be a very proud man because his son has imbibed his legacies of service, noting that leadership is fundamentally all about serving others, and adding value to their lives. Which Hon Martin have done with the setting of the foundation.
To this end, the First Lady urged other "well to do" in positions of leadership to always use their wealth to impact the lives of those that are less opportuned. Stressing that Martin, by his action have proven that service to humanity is the best work of life.
Dr Linda Ayade, who presented items to some beneficiaries of the foundation advised them to appreciate the good gesture of the foundation by properly using the items well which are meant to make life better for them. Several items like computers, wheel chairs, wrappers, cash gift, medical facilities, grinding machines and sewing machines, etc were distributed to many beneficiaries. Prof Ivara Esu, the deputy governor of Cross River state, who was there to represent his principal - prof. Ayade - charged all well meaning individuals in the society to follow the example of Hon. Orim, the chief of staff to his Excellency, Governor Ben Ayade. According to him, 'Hon. Martin has done very well by bringing us all here in honour of his late father who l am aware was a man who was committed more to serving others and Martin has shown here today that he is a young man with great heart to serve others like his late father and that is why you can see that the whole state is here today to identify with him.’
