Ayade Authorizes Immediate Construction Of AYADECARE Referral Hospital At Etung As A Reward For Their Seriousness Of Donating Land

It will be recalled that on the 6th of September, 2016, the Governor's social investment agenda in the health sector was manifested through the signing into law of the State Health Insurance Scheme (SHIS), otherwise known as AYADECARE which is in tandem with the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) with the provision for an equity fund of one percent of the state’s consolidated revenue fund to go to vulnerable population.
As a follow-up to that institutional policy and legal framework, the Governor, last week, sent a state Government delegation led by Dr Inyang Asibong, the Health Commissioner on awareness campaign on the promising opportunities the AYADECARE holds for Crossriverians and of all the places visited, the People of Etung demonstrated an unusual zeal and seriousness by donating a strategically located piece of land at Effraya. Consequently, the Governor gave an executive order for the immediate construction of AYADECARE Referral Hospital to be first erected in Etung as a token of recompense for their seriousness and commitment to the cause. However, the people of Etung, through their Paramount Ruler, Ntufam Oru Ojong expressed their delight and appreciation for the Governor and pray for God's protection and guidance for the Governor
Residual knowledge reveals that the prosperity-base of a people is defined by sound health. Therefore, it is obvious that the governor's decisive plan for the state's economic pivot could have made no meaning without a complementary health improvement and coverage plan. The Governor had already declared that Cross River will be second to non in the country, when it comes to quality health service delivery. The construction of AYADECARE Referral Hospitals across the state signals the accomplishment of that declaration.
Inyang Asibong, the Health Commissioner was accompanied by Dr Betta Edu, DG of Primary Health Care Development Agency; Mr Gowin Iyala, S.A. on Insurance; Permanent Secretary of Health Ministry and a host of others.
