WORLD MALARIA DAY: CRS FIRST LADY TO SPONSOR AN EXECUTIVE BILL TO CRSHA.


As the world celebrates "World Malaria Day" today, wife of the Cross River State Governor, Her Excellency Dr. Linda Ayade is determined to send an executive bill to Cross River State House of Assembly (CRSHA) for immediate ban on the use of long lasting insecticide treated net (LLIN) for agricultural purpose. Dr. Linda Ayade made this known today at Community Secondary School, Ugep as she launches some basic activities to mark this year's world malaria day with the theme: "End Malaria for Good" A PUSH FOR PREVENTION. she stated that the hunt malaria initiative was the first programmed embarked on immediately she assume office as first Lady.
According to her, the reason for taking up the fight against malaria was because malaria kills silently and 95% of people in Nigeria die of malaria. She further admonished that the choice of this year's slogan "Push for Prevention" became necessary because her NGO Mediatrix Development Foundation in collaboration with Etisalat fight malaria and the Cross River State Government would distribute LLINs to student and people. We are also carrying out free medical outreach for Yakurr nation. Adding that with this digital age, her NGO is proud to work with Etisalat Nigeria to provide computer devices which will be installed with malaria preventive programs and distributed free of charge to student across the state. She vowed to send a bill to the state House of assembly on the ban of long lasting insecticide nets for agricultural purposes.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency (CRSPHCDA), Dr Betta Edu prior to this has taken the opening remark where she thanked the people of yakurr LGA for turning out in their numbers to grace this years world malaria day. " What are we doing to end malaria today?" was the theoretical question of the DG to the people of central Cross River State, she further stressed that there must be an end to malaria, through prevention. We must hang up our nets to protect us from mosquito bites, and put an end to the use of insecticide treated nets for agricultural purposes, saying such an act is highly unacceptable.
