2ND ROUND IMMUNIZATION PLUS DAYS, DR BETTA EDU PAY'S ADVOCACY VISIT TO CRBC AND CALABAR MARKET WOMEN.

The Director General of Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency (CRSPHCDA), Dr. Betta Edu paid advocacy visit to Cross River Broadcasting corporation (CRBC) and Market Women Association in Calabar. The visit according to the DG was to seek for support in the Second Round of Immunization Plus Days expected to hold between the 6th - 10th of may, 2017.
The Director General who was received at CRBC by the General Manager, Mrs Theresa Essien, said the 2nd round of the immunization plus days is targeted at reaching every child in CRS and ensuring that they are immunized against vaccines preventable diseases. According to her the programs is supported by UNICEF, WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION, NPHCDA, EUSIGN, Mediatrix Development Foundation, an initiative of the wife of the Governor of CRS, Her Excellency, Dr. Linda Ayade. and others. She further stated that the support needed from the media house is to sensitize the general public on the importance of the 2nd round immunization plus days as well as discourage Cross Riverians from the use of mosquito nets for agricultural purposes (fishing covering crops, filtering of garri, palm oil, honey, pap etc). She cautioned that such an act is very dangerous to human health.
The DG who was in company of Dr. Ana Onebiene (Director PHC), Dr Asuquo Ekwe State Malaria Elimination manager, Mrs. Agnes Ogogo (State Mobilization officer), Mrs. Regina Adia (State Nutrition Officer) and Dr. Jane Ekpeyong (Consultant) also visited Market Women Association. Addressing the executives of the various market women associations in calabar, Dr. Betta Edu advocated for their support in reaching out to other members of their association and making sure that their children are immunized. She assured them of Sen. Ben Ayade's commitment to children/women welfare through provision of basic health care in the state, and charge them on the need to lend their voices in kicking against abuse of mosquito nets by some Cross Riverians. She further pledges her support in working with the market women until the state achieve the universal health coverage target.
Responding on behalf of the market women association, the President Elder Chief Mrs. Enang Bassey (Adiaha Adiaha) thanked Dr. Betta Edu for her good works in the state, stating clearly that there are happy with the state government and the agency for having them in mind as well as identifying with them. She also promise to mobilize the women to come out en mass with their children for the exercise.
