Communal clashes claim 8 lives in Cross River, Ebonyi States
Some Adadama youth Dead
Four people are feared to have been killed during communal clashes between communities in Cross River and Ebonyi.
The conflict, which is alleged to have occurred between the Ochienyim community in Amagu, Ebonyi State and the Adadama community in the Abi LGA of Cross River State, resulted in violent clashes that saw scores injured.
A source who spoke on condition of anonymity that some women left their residences to harvest cassava on their Adadama farms when they were attacked.
The attackers are said to have attempted to abduct some of the women but were fought off by youths the youth of Adadama.
A source within the Abi LGA also related their tale, blaming their Ebonyi neighbors for the fracas and loss of lives.
“The women were chased from their farms by Amagu youth. When some of our women fled home to report what happened, our youth went on rescue mission a fight broke out leading to the death of four of our youth,” he said.
Security officials have since claimed that calm has been restored in the area.
