Minimum wage: FG is studying labour’s demand - Ngige

Dr. Chris Ngige, the minister of Labour and Productivity, has said the federal government is carefully studying the call by labour for a review of the national minimum wage. According to him, the government plans a tripartite negotiation in order to give an appropriate response, Leadership reports. NAIJ.com recalls that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) had called on the federal government to increase the minimum wage from N18,000 to N56,000 last month. Their reason is due to the value of the naira. However, speaking with executive members of the Organisation of Trade Unions of West Africa (OTUWA), in Abuja on Monday, May 9, Ngige, described as legitimate the call by labour for a review of the national minimum wage.
