BEYOND THE NEW CRS LOGO

Cross River State has the largest limestone deposit, yet no single indigenous cement company. Cross River State has numerous quarry site s, yet no Cross River State indigene has a quarry. Cross River State has 24 operational tank farms, yet no one belongs to an indigene of the state. It will be worthwhile to redirect analytical energies to these concerns rather than allow the new cross river state (CRS) logo get trendier than necessary. New York that is the center of world trade which accounts for her massive wealth, has red as the colour of her flag. Maryland also in US has red in the color of her flag. Countries like Russia, USA, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Vatican City, even China that is the largest economy in the world has red as the colour of her flag. From the above, there is a connection between red and prosperity/greatness. Our inferences to color psychology should not only be limited to the negative connotations of red. The last time I checked, red...

Poor federal allocation and Ayade's magic in Cross River state Nigeria

Image
Poor federal allocation and Ayade's magic in Cross River There is outrage in Cross River following the disclosure of federal allocation to the state in the firs t quarter of 2017 by the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun. As disclosed by the Finance Minister and reported by most media outlets across the country, Cross River State got N4.28 billion in three months. Only Osun State got something lower. A breakdown of the allocation translates to N1.4 billion monthly, an amount that cannot pay salaries of local government workers, talk less of paying the entire state workforce, which wage bill is put at over N5 billion. No doubt, the figure is an improvement from the previous allocations where the state consistently received zero allocations in the last three quarters of 2016" That is the reality facing Cross River, reality that is made more difficult to accept given that some of its sister states got close to N40 billion in the same period. It is amazin...

ON THE NEW COLOURS & LOGO FOR CROSS RIVER STATE NIGERIA

Image
Cross River State Logo As part of the celebration of the State’s 50th anniversary, the Governor and his Executive Council have decided to deprive the State of her famed brand identities namely- the colours, motto and logo. A government official told pressmen that the State colours will be changed in the next few days. It is said the colours of red and white will replace the colours of blue and white. The new red and white logo also has a bull in the middle signifying the ‘energy’ behind the activities in the State and the 18 stars encircling the logo represent the 18 local governments of Cross River State. •Analyzing the changes and the reasons for them, one will see that the State Executive Council has no compelling reason to change the State logo. They are simply looking for mundane undertakings just to lay claim to having marked the State’s golden jubilee. How can they change the State logo which is unique in all its ways into that new thing that looks like the ...

Red Carpet Interview @ the Cross River State Logo Event

Image
This same dude that loudly protested against "Red" in the New Cross River Logo, is the same guy worshiping that same red in his red carpet moment. That means his red carpet moment is a moment of honor. So, red is associated with honor, ehn? Funny enough, the same guy was no where until Ayade came on board. Meanwhile, that his kinsman that has mobilized them against Ayade has never done anything For him or his relatives. He is only reputed For writing the longest petition ever in Nigeria. For the fact that your kinsmen hate a man, out of envy, does not mean you who is even benefiting from him should hate him. Someone should advice this guy and SA Student to observe table manners naa! People who are eating don't talk. Or can you try that in the time of DD? For the fact that Ayade has chosen to be permissive to criticism and make his administration all-involving does not mean the process should be abused. Ayade is a very simple young man. But believe me, th...

Ayade's rebranding of state logo

Governor Ayade's re branding of state logo is good thinking Fifty years is quite a journey in the life of a man, nation or state. Sometimes it can be a momentous one. Ot her times it could be vapid, uneventful and inconsequential. For 50 years, Cross River has existed as a sub-state of the Nigerian nation. Created on May 27, 1967 as then South Eastern State by the General Yakubu Gowon administration, Cross River, as it later became following a name change, has gone through both purple and sticky patches. In the course of those 50 years, instructively, the state has no doubt, wrenched several giants strides, just as it has been greeted by some pitfalls in its wake. As a state, it has witnessed several firsts. Even though not created as a state then, Calabar, which later became the capital of South Eastern States and thereafter Cross River State, was the first seat of power for the Southern Protectorate during the colonial rule. Among other firsts are the first cable...

Ayade reads riot act to environmental defaulters, renames Green Police Cross River Governor, Prof Ben Ayade, has warned residents to ensure that the state’s cle anliness and greenary status is sustained or be ready to face prosecution. Ayade gave the warning recently when he formally announced the change of name of the state's non armed bearing outfit, the Green Police to Green Sheriff. "Cross River is the cleanest state in Nigeria and unarguably the tourism destination of the country, it is imperative that the cleanliness needs to be sustained. In doing this, my administration has made it very clear that we will have zero tolerance for an untidy environment as we lay emphasis on cleanliness, knowing full well that cleanliness is next to Godliness," the governor remarked. He intimated that the new outfit "Green Sheriff" must serve as an environmental neighborhood watch by ensuring that every resident of the state and Calabar in particular keep...
